Our Wedding

It's now been over two months since we got married and this post is way overdue! We got married on February 18th 2016, on our 5 year anniversary. We went to the main courthouse in West Palm Beach which was over an hour away from us but made for beautiful pictures.

The reason why we chose to go the courthouse route is because we are saving for our first home together. Which is a part of our 5 year goals. in 2 years, 2018, we should be closing on a house no later than December, and then, in 2021, exactly 5 years from our wedding day, our 10 year dating anniversary, we'll have our vow renewal. Which will be much bigger than our courthouse wedding.

I had bought my dress the year before online from Shop Akira, it is a white leather spaghetti strap dress with a sweetheart laced neckline. My headpiece is Irresistible Me, and my purse is a replica Chanel 2.55 bag. Fred got his jacket and shirt from Macy's. Aiden Kyle wore blue blazers as my something blue, from H & M. My bouquet and the three boutineers were from A Floral, and because they are faux flowers, are displayed on my vanity. After the ceremony we went to our favorite Italian restaurant, Maggiano's Little Italy, and had an amazing meal with a bottle of wine. The manager noticed that we were celebrating and sent out a huge dessert tray for us on the house. It was the most perfect day. I think I covered all the details, so now, pictures!

DIY Valentine's Day Crayon Hearts

10:18 Unknown 0 Comments

For Valentine's Day Aiden usually sends a Valentine for each of his friends in his class. This year I decided to add a cute heart shaped crayon with each card. I was tagged in a picture on Facebook, and that's where I got the idea from. Now if you google how to make these, the majority of the tutorials require that you have heart shape molds. I didn't have any and was too excited to wait and go get some. So what I did instead was take an old cookie sheet, (which is now dedicated to crafts; If you want you can lay aluminum foil on the bottom of the pan but it probably wont come out as smooth), and my heart shaped cookie cutter. It was super easy and all it really takes is time.

INGREDIENTS

  • broken crayons
  • cookie sheet or baking pan
  • aluminum foil (optional)

METHOD
  1. Separate your crayons and remove the wrappers. break them up as small as possible.
  2. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Lay your crayons on the cookie sheet.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let it cool for 15 minutes.
  4. Cut out your hearts and let them cool for another hour before breaking them apart.
  5. After the hour, break them apart.
  6. Add a small tag or a coloring page to let the kids know that it's a crayon and  not a cookie or candy lol.
If your little one is currently obsessed with WWE like Aiden is, then feel free to use this print out

I attached the crayon to the print out using Elmer's Glue

What Do You Mean We're Not Having A Party?

For Aiden's 6th birthday we decided to not have a party. Aiden didn't know how to react at first but we definitely made it memorable. Cake was something we HAD to have and WWE is his current obsession so decorating his room was the next genius idea. It's really the little things that gets Aiden excited so just being able to wear his "Birthday Boy" button to school was everything!

The next day we went to another little boy's birthday party and then dinner at Friday's that evening. I wanted the staff to sing happy birthday for him but our waitress said they don't that anymore. I was beyond surprised but Aiden didn't know so he didn't care. The night ended with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate cookies.

On the 24th, we spent the day shopping but completely forgot to record any of it. Aiden had fun and had cake all week.

Breakfast Casserole

Over the weekend I hosted my second brunch. There were four of us in total so I din't go over board with the food. I had guava pastries, fruits, mini chicken and waffles and a breakfast casserole. The mini waffles didn't at all come out how I pictured in my head but I LOVED the casserole. I found the recipe on Pintrest and the next time I do this I'll definitely tweak it a bit.

INGREDIENTS
1 lb breakfast sausage (I did turkey)
5 slices of bread (cubed)
8 eggs
2 cups shredded cheese
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups milk

METHOD
1. Brown sausage. Drain and layer at the bottom of pan.
2. Place cubed bread on top of sausage.
3. Layer with 1 cup of cheese.
4. Blend eggs, milk & salt. Pour over cheese.
5. Spread 2nd cup of cheese on top.
6. Refrigerate overnight.
7. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Next time I make this I'm gonna add green peppers, onions and maybe tomatoes. Hope you enjoy this as much as we did.

Excessive Dry Skin!

Kyle

Kyle, my youngest, was born the cutest, roundest, little 7lb baby boy ever! Only because Aiden was born 8lbs. :) He was tiny & pink and loved more than anything in that moment. After taking him home from the hospital and upon closer inspection we noticed that our perfect little bundle had small patches of dryness on his legs.

We asked his doctor on his first visit & were told that it was normal and would go away on its own. Well it didn't. At the next couple visits we were recommended Aquaphor. A greasy, Vaseline looking product which to me was only covering up Kyle's dryness and not really treating it. We were then recommended to use Aveeno. Now while this worked to some extent, it wasn't working well enough. Partly because while the moisturizer was great, we weren't using the right body wash. We were using the regular Aveeno Baby shampoo and body wash instead of the moisturizing version with cleanses without drying out the skin. We were finally getting somewhere. We went from moisturizing every couple hours to only twice a day. This eventually grew monotonous.

One day my mum gave me three miniature bottles of Vitamin E oil! A light bulb instantly went off in my  head! Vitamin E is a natural moisturizer that can be used in the hair, on the skin, for your nails & even consumed!

That night, after bath time, I made a mixture of Kyle's Aveeno lotion & a few drops of the Vitamin E oil in the palm of my hands and began to lather him with it. I could instantly see the difference. After an entire week of using the oil mixture his skin was baby soft. I started using it on Aiden as well, for all the little scars he had from playing & falling during his 5 year life span, and it cleared those right up!

A lot of the times we buy all these over priced items assuming it will work because of its price tag, but really, all we need sometimes, is our mothers help.

Their families gathered at Caf Boulud in Palm Beach Saturday night for a glamorous rehearsal dinner. The Modern Family actress looked gorgeous in a white dress while her husband-to-be looked as handsome as ever in a blue suit. Later in the evening Sofia changed into another white dress, but this time it was strapless and flaunted her famous curves.

With adorable napkins that had "He had me at hola" and the date of their rehearsal dinner written on them, as well as table settings that included gorgeous red roses, this couple left no stone unturned when it came to planning the little details of their weekend soiree. While we're sure the dinner was nothing but exceptionally delicious, it was the dancing that seemed like the best part of the affair!

Alejandro Vergara also took the mic and performed some Spanish-language hits as a happier-than-ever Sofia danced and clapped behind him.

At one point everyone gathered around Sofia as Joe grabbed a microphone and sang Guns N' Roses "Sweet Child of Mine" to her. In the middle of singing the chorus he stopped to plant a big, adorable kiss on his soon-to-be wife.

The couple are currently in Palm Beach. And while its only an hour or so drive away and as much as I LOOOOOVE Sophia & Joe (we're on a 1st name basis) I'll try my best to not be a wedding crasher.

They started dating in the summer of 2014 and were engaged six months later.
In September, Vergara opened up to "Good Morning America" about her upcoming wedding.

"I dont have the dress. I know whos making my dress, but its not ready," she said, adding she is kind of a bridezilla. "I am very detail-oriented so I am kind of like a nightmare. I have a very good memory. If you show me swatches of things, I can in two months exactly remember, What happened with the one with the little border that had the little print? Im like, really bad.

Wedding Wednesday - Cake Porn

04:24 Unknown 0 Comments

There are a ton of options out there when it comes to wedding cakes. Whether you choose to go traditional or alternative is entirely up to you. In this list I'm showing you 7 to choose from.

Tiered fruitcake with marzipan (traditional): This is the standard type of wedding cake that has a long history behind it, and is said to be modeled on London's Bride's Church (England). This cake is rich and not everyone likes the taste or the formality of this kind of cake.

Cupcake wedding cake (alternative): This kind of cake has gained a lot of followers in recent years. It's a tower of cupcakes that are usually in different flavors. The frosting can include many different types of symbols, initials, flowers, fruits, etc. as preferred. While many bakers are happy to make this kind of cupcake, this style is also great for a wedding reception planned for home as the cupcakes can be made easily in advance and frosted by generous family members just prior to the wedding. Or, buy them in bulk pre-frosted, and add a few finishing touches!
The tiered stand is widely sold as a "cupcake tree".

Croquembouche (French traditional): This high cone of profiteroles with a cascade of toffee (to which can be added sugared/candied almonds, chocolate, flowers, ribbons, etc.). This cake can usually serve around 3040, so if you have more guests, consider several croquembouche. As a form of dessert, Croquembouche takes care of the dessert menu, which can be an excellent solution for a tight budget. As a delicate cake, you need to be assured of careful delivery.

Chocolate cake (French): Chocolate cake has had an avid following at weddings for quite a while now and the French wedding cake is lavishly decorated with a lace style. The relevant baker would be a French patisserie.

Cheesecake: For the bride and groom who don't much like cake, a Cheesecake is an option. This isn't a cheesecake, it's a layer of cheeses! One large cheese disk is on the base, with smaller cheese layers working their way to the top. Flowers and other decorations are added to the cheese layers. This can work out to be much cheaper than a traditional wedding cake but still lets you have the "layers".

Theme cake: There is a definite tradition of theme cakes for geek weddings. Cakes from Star Wars, Star Trek, and other sci-fi flicks are not unusual, as are cakes from beloved themes such as manga, anime, Hello Kitty, and anything that takes the fancy of the bride and groom. This sort of cake will come naturally to you if both of you are huge fans of something!

Cookies. A lavish "cookie table" assortment, often carefully arranged, is a Pittsburgh-area tradition. It could accompany a simpler cake, and many people can contribute without needing to coordinate efforts much in advance.

I'm currently loving the naked cake trend. What kind of cake did you have or are loving for your wedding?

You're engaged! Congratulations! In order to spread the exciting news forget the phone chain that your mom is planning and create a wedding website filled with all the information you're dying to share and your guests can't wait to read -- like how much of a discount you can get them at the hotel? And where you're registered so they can buy you a gift you actually want?
